As lock down 2.0 looms over us we sadly see so many local/small business forced to shut. It’s important that we don’t rush to the big retailers, and we support all small businesses – especially with Christmas round the corner!
Today’s post is going to highlight a couple of small business that I think are amazing (slightly biased as they are my friends) but I have no doubt that you guys are going to agree with me!
If I’m really clever then you should be taken straight to their websites/Instagram, through the links highlighted in orange. Happy shopping!
Sarah’s Designs
Starting this all off we have local business Sarah’s Designs – run by Shepreth’s own Sarah Martin! She first started this business during the first lockdown just as a way to create some extra income and something to do. Sarah creates really unique clothing with gorgeous embriodery. Having purchased an item from her I really can vouch that she is super talented and I am so pleased with my hoodie! What I love most about this is that its completely up to you what you want her to make (within reason!) You can choose the colour of the garment/stitching and design that you’d like on front. Not only does she embriod onto jumpers, she also can onto t-shirts and tote bags. Such a good idea for a Christmas presents for friends/family.
To make an order with Sarah you can send her a direct message through Instagram and go from there!

Monday Collective
My good friend Holly runs Monday Collective, a beautiful handmade jewellery brand. The pieces that she makes are so pretty and really different from your usual chains and pendents, as they are all beaded! Each piece is entirely hand made by Holly and is as sustainable as possible in terms of wastage and packaging. She first started the brand as a little side project and something to do over a weekend.
(A message from Holly on why she first thought of creating Monday Collective) “I’ve always loved jewellery and mixing up the pieces I wear and wanted a new beaded kind of necklace but couldn’t find any that fitted what I had in mind so I decided to order some beads and bits and it all just went from there.”
You can shop Collective through Etsy!
CUSH
Cush Cushions is run by Leicester based Jess who is incredibly talented at pretty much anything … Perviously working with her at George, she would show us all these amazing creations she had made out of old kitchen tables/chairs, crazy! She started Cush a couple of months ago after her love of vintage fabrics needed fulfilling! All cushions/headbands are made from recycled clothing – which is just so cool. It’s so important for us all to shop more sustainably – there’s never been a bettepr excuse to go and buy yourself a little treat. Cush is really unique and such a good gift for anyone loving interior design (who doesn’t!?) this Christmas.
You can shop Cush through Estsy or though the Instagram Page where you can send a direct message!
Venti By Gabriella is a luxury candle brand that is completely vegan and has a sustainable touch! The scents are inspired by nostalgia and nature and can be custom made to order. Gabbi first started Venti during lockdown where it gave her the opportunity to for fill her dream of running her own business.
(Message from Gabriella) “It was really important to me to have a sustainable element and not to add to our current environmentally situation. With that in mind we re-use when we can, recycle always and source 100% soya wax to make all our products. While setting up Venti I insured I developed and sourced different waxes, wicks and scents to make sure I produce a luxury candle at affordable price. At the end of the day who doesn’t love treating themselves or others. “
Some of the scents she’s currently creating are; Pumkin Pie, Sandlewood and Pepper, Lavender, and best seller Sicilian Lemon. You can purchase these as candles and wax melts. Your going to be stuck inside your homes for the next few weeks – you might as well make it smell amazing! You can shop Venti By Gabriella through sending her a direct message on Instagram.
Heidi & Hugo
Heidi & Hugo was created by a friend of mine, Faye and named after her two children – Heidi and Hugo. Faye is one of those really annoying people who is good at everything, so it was always going to be a given that this business would massively take off! She creates bespoke handmade crafts and illustrations which honestly are so amazing. Her talent at this is just insane, from Birthday/Christmas cards to keychains and hanging mobiles you can pretty much ask Faye to create anything – that’s the beauty of her business! You can have bits as personalised as much or as little as you like, it’s all unique and completely affordable! I know so many of you will love this – and the perfect small business to invest your pennies into this Christmas.
You can shop Heidi & Hugo through Instagram by sending a direct message, or though Facebook.
